Fabrics that are made with modern synthetic fibers such as acrylic are not subject to mold. Natural fibers such as cotton can suffer this kind of damage. It is, however, essential to make sure that you never fold or roll up your awning when it is wet, as particles and atmospheric pollution that might be on the surface of the fabric can mold. If, for any reason, you have to roll up your awning when it is wet, make sure that it is opened as soon as possible so that the fabric can dry.
